November 3, 2020 General Election Electronic Recount (2nd Recount)

This is to serve as public notice that the Upson County  Board of Elections will conduct an electronic recount of the 11-3-2020 General Election as mandated by the Georgia Secretary of State.  This is a statewide recount.  Logic and Accuracy testing of the scanning equipment used in the recount will take place on 11-24-2020 at 1:00 PM at the Elections Processing Center located at 715 Andrews Drive, Thomaston, GA  30286.  We will begin scanning/recounting the ballots beginning on Monday 11-30-2020 at 9:00 AM at the same location.  The deadline for completion of the recount is midnight on Wednesday 12-2-2020.  This recount is open to the public.  All political parties have been notified are are invited to have up to two monitors present inside the counting area.  A Ballot Review Committee will also be present that consists of representatives from each political party and the Board of Elections.

November 3, 2020 General Election Audit/Manual Recount

This is to serve as public notice that on Friday November 13, 2020 at 9:00 AM, the Upson County  Board of Elections will begin conducting an audit/manual recount of the 11-3-2020 General Election Presidential race as mandated by Georgia's Secretary of State. The audit/recount will take place at the Thomaston/Upson Civic Center located at 101 Civic Center Dr., Thomaston, GA 30286.  The audit will begin at 9:00 AM and will continue until 10:00 PM or until completion.  If not completed by 10:00 PM the recount will resume on Saturday November 14, 2020 at 9:00 AM until complete.  The deadline for completion is midnight on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.  This audit is open to be observed by the public.  All political parties have been notified are are invited to have up to two monitors present inside the counting area.  A Ballot Review Committee will also be present that consists of representatives from each political party and the Board of Elections.

Responsibilities

The Upson County Elections/Registrars Office is set up to handle all of the needs concerning voter registration for Upson County and the City of Thomaston. The office also carries out other duties that include but are not limited to the following:

  • Campaign Contribution Disclosure Statements
  • Candidate Qualification Procedures
  • Financial Disclosure Statements
  • Issuance of Photo Identification Cards (for Voting Purposes Only)
  • Voter Precinct Assignment Verification
